Seeing Ethnography

What does it mean to visually capture people and cultures? To spark that conversation, 2013’s Margaret Mead Film Festival collaborated with the art and anthropology collective Ethnographic Terminalia to put the anthropologist front and center. University of Nevada anthropologist and artist Zoe Bray showcased her unusual and innovative style of ethnography by live-painting the NYU anthropologist Fred Myers in the American Museum of Natural History’s Grand Gallery for the duration of the festival.
